For ten days rangers of the Masai Mara game reserve took food and water for the young male lion as his body succumbed to poison. His limbs were paralysed and he was unable to protect himself from other male lions. Finally, a bite to the back of the head, and he was dead. Conservationists in Kenya believe he was the victim of a pesticide afflicting the country’s endangered lion population.
